About Dooars
The Dooars is the belt of forest, tea garden and river bed that runs along the foot of the Himalaya in North Bengal. It is flat, green and completely different in character from the hill stations above it.
Most trips here are built around wildlife: Gorumara and Chapramari for elephant and bison, Jaldapara for the one-horned rhinoceros, and quiet riverside nights at Murti or Samsing.

How to reach Dooars
- Nearest airport: Bagdogra (IXB), roughly 80 to 150 km depending on the stay.
- Nearest railheads: New Mal Junction, New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and Hasimara.
Good to know. Safari permits, timings and vehicle allotment are controlled by the forest department and are confirmed only on the day. Park closure dates change each year.
