Overview

About Kalimpong

Kalimpong is lower and warmer than Darjeeling, and noticeably calmer. It grew as a trading post on the old route to Tibet, and that history is still visible in its monasteries, churches and school campuses.

It works best as a two-night stop between Darjeeling and Gangtok, or as a relaxed base for travellers who prefer viewpoints and gardens to a packed sightseeing list.
